The city's strength is that it has never been perfect
Running from May 21, 2026 to Jan 3, 2027
Scheduled today · time unknownThe exhibition “The city’s strength is that it has never been perfect” looks at Álvaro Siza’s urban projects through the lens of his experiential approach to understanding a place, its form, its intrinsic history, and its existence. It highlights his concern with determining the right level of intervention and building within the existing context, rather than thinking only in terms of individual buildings. The exhibition presents drawings, models, notebooks, photographs, and documents drawn from Siza’s archives at the CCA, as well as contributions from architects and historians connected to his projects. A book accompanies the exhibition, based on an oral account by Siza and enriched with newly discovered notes recently uncovered.
