887 by Robert Lepage

“887” is a moving dive into the workings of memory, inspired by Robert Lepage’s childhood memories. Starting from seemingly ordinary images, the play asks what we hold onto and what slips away: why does an old phone number or a nursery rhyme linger, while recent information disappears? Somewhere between theatre and lecture, Lepage explores individual memory and its echo in collective memory, through the street, park, and monument names that shape our everyday landscape. The show also addresses forgetting and the fragility of memory in the age of digital storage, questioning the relevance of the stage, an art based on the very exercise of memory.
